Storm Portraits is a 3 year project of aerial photographs captured from the flight deck of a Boeing 767-300 flying around the world. These photographs freeze the instant image produced exclusively from the lightning of a storm and sometimes star trails or city lights. The aim is to convey the viewer a different, new view of the storms and their intrinsic beauty and power. A lightning is extremely fast and cannot be appreciated by the expectator's naked eye. Here the camera plays a key role by freezing this moment into a photograph that can be admired for as long as we want.
I’m a Photographer and an Airline Pilot based in Quito, Ecuador.
I’m 31 years old and I’ve been flying the Boeing 767-300ER for over 6 years. I’ve also been into photography seriously for about the same time. I enjoy nature and weather photography. Storms are my favorite subject. I take advantage of my inflight rest periods on long haul flights to jump into the observer’s seat and take some photos at the storms we fly around. I shoot with a Nikon D750 camera and try to post daily on my social channels about the storms we encounter on every flight.
