The Australian Bushfire Emergency of 2019 is regarded by the NSW Rural Fire Service as the worst bushfire season in living memory. Commencing in the unseasonal month of September, the unprecedented savagery of the fires had burnt it's way across several states, raising more then 16.8 million hectares of Australian bush, destroying more that 5900 buildings ( including 2204 homes ) and killing at least 28 people as well as an estimated one billion Australian animals. It is widely considered by Australian economists that the cost of the fires will exceed 5 billion dollars.
