The winter of 2020/21 saw some of the largest surf in years arrive to California's coast. One spot in particular, Mavericks, only breaks on the largest of swells. Positioned off of California's central coast, Mavericks is one of the heaviest and scariest waves in the world. These photos, taken on one of the biggest days in years, were taken from in the water alongside the surfers to try to give the viewer a personal view of what Mavericks looks like when it comes to life.
