My work centers on disappearing arid-land springs in the deserts of North America, focusing on the effects of climate change, drought and aquifer overuse. Essential to humanity for millions of years, in our modern world they are all but forgotten. A staggering 80% of them have been destroyed since 1900. I work with an infrared palette whose colors are only seen through filters to visualize springs' precarious condition making complex science accessible and more personal. The loss of these ecologically diverse, and culturally important ecosystems threatens our survival to live in dry places.
