This photo was taken at the beginning of 2021. The year from 2020 to 2021 was one in which the distance between people and the boundaries of how close you can get to them was reevaluated in photography. The pandemic made it difficult to walk the streets in the first place, and there was more resistance to approaching people. While I felt that I could no longer photograph in the same way I used to, I also came to value more the miracle of the overlapping of the city and people in any form to create a single picture. This shot is part of that coincidence and miracle.
She is a photographer born in Japan and currently based in Tokyo and Hong Kong. She studied history at university and holds a master's degree in history. She has a keen interest in the city, and uses the perspective she gained from her history studies to capture street snaps.
