Polar bears are usually photographed on the pack-ice. In North Manitoba, I went to photograph them when they emerged from their dens for the very first time with their cubs. This is the rare opportunity to see polar bears in different environment, among willow trees. Conditions of photography were as difficult for the materiel as for the photographer, with temperatures reaching extreme cold - 57° Celsius.
