High Alpine winds had the clouds ripping across the sky during sunset. Somehow the air along the creek in the valley was perfectly still. I took advantage of this and used a 10 stop ND filter to bring things down to a 3 minute exposure. As the sun set the colorful clouds carried the color across my frame the time the small shrub stayed motionless in front of me.
I use my camera as a painter would use their brush, focusing more on the mood and power of a pre-visualized scene before the camera even comes out of the bag. I want my images to move you emotionally so you can experience the power and beauty that I experienced while studying the scene and capturing the final image With a collection of work in the hundreds and multiple international photography awards, I practice traditional photographic methods, I take single frame exposures using filters and other on camera techniques paired with great light.
