Longyearbyen, the capital of the remote Arctic island archipelago of Svalbard, is the world’s fastest warming town. This "new Arctic" holds both challenges and opportunities for its residents. Karina and Martin Bernlow are examples: they recently moved their family of six to a house at the very end of the road at in Longyearbyen to take advantage of the growing tourist trade in the Arctic. However, year after year the snows have decreased and the thaw has come earlier, forcing the Bernlow’s to run their dogsleds on mud.
