Since 2016 Central Italy has been hit hard by a number of seismic events which have brought death, caused severe damage to houses, and disrupted daily life in many communities. Although Italy has always been a seismic zone, there is no long-term plan to deal with the emergency, if not temporary housing in total disregard of the surrounding environment. The subsequent sense of confusion and dispersion pushed many inhabitants of small towns have decided to leave the inland counties to move to the coast, helping consolidate the so-called abandonment strategy implemented by the Italian Government.
