Isolation

    Sofia Conti

This is Sheila who is 89 years young who has a form of sight loss. These are troubles times as the country is now in full lockdown due to the Corona Virus. This image was taken just before full lockdown was put into place. As Sheila is over 70 years old and has underlying health conditions she is now isolated in her own home. She is reliant on her only son who is aiding her through this period. The image demonstrates how we are all shielding ourselves to protect our loved ones and the rest of society. As Sheila looks out of the window she leaves a light on giving a sense of hope.

I am in my 3rd and final year of BA Professional Photography where I am focusing my attention on the Documentary genre. I want to focus my attention on social awareness issues by telling an intriguing story that will not only aesthetically please the viewer but re-educate them on the subject matter. The imagery I create consists of candid moments, environmental portraits and interesting perspectives on the day to day lives people lead.
