Wooden Life

  • Photographer
    Simone Francescangeli

Due to the economy and wheather condition, Chilean lumberjacks today have to push themselves work into even more remote areas like the small islands of the archipelago of the southern fjords of the country. They have to face isolation , bad weather condition, scarcity of resourses, and have to enfront even difficult social relations. Physical problems are the normality in everyday life like psychological ones. A relatively present problem is depression. Dignity and willpower are fundamental properties. The images are in the form of complementary diptychs.

My name is Simone Francescangeli, I'm a self-made photographer. I come from the Italian province. I picked up the camera with the intention of being able to find a way to express myself in 2010 and just try to tell the life stories of men closely, especially the ordinary ones, related to the need to be able to live day per day. Until now I brought footstes around in Italy, in Europe, South America and Africa.
