The Waorani are native Amerindians from the Amazonian Region of Ecuador (Napo, Orellana, and Pastaza Provinces) who have marked differences from other ethnic groups from Ecuador.In 2018, Ecuador’s Minister of Hydrocarbons announced an auction of 16 new oil concessions covering roadless. There are 7 million acres of indigenous territory still on the auction block, and it’s going to take a global movement to force the Ecuadorian government to abandon their planto sell the Amazon to oil companies.
