Some of the pictures in this series appear otherworldly, others look like etchings made by a human hand. All are photographs of the surface of a frozen river in the Scottish Highlands. Humans have the ability to bring about a wonderful future for this world - but we tend to hold tight to a world view of received wisdom and allow it to bias what and how we see. When we let our eyes relax and our hearts soften we become more receptive to mystery and the possibility of alternate realities.
In her early 50s Sheila quit her left brained career. Her camera evoked an earlier passion and has led to a new path. With maturity as her lens, Sheila’s portfolio includes stories of landscapes - peopled and unpeopled; trees; wild flowers; stone; ice and more. The desire for connection and the communication of something of essence is her inspiration.
