"Maria" is an ongoing documentary project that focuses on the long-term aftermath of hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. The storm hit on September 20th, 2017, following hurricanes Harvey and Irma, it left a trail of devastation, especially in the rural and poorer towns on the coast and in the mountains. People were without water for months and due to Puerto Rico’s feeble infrastructure, communities were cut off when bridges collapsed and landslides covered roads with mud. Electricity has still not been fully restored, 6 months after the storm.
