Three years ago I was invited to participate in a cruise. Although it was not my ideal vacation I decided to try because it would give me the opportunity to visit port cities that I had never seen before. But my interest was captured by life on board. Cruisers are habitual vacationers, with their rhythms, their rites and their myths. I have found a world in which the enthusiastic effort to have fun, often leaves room for a reality made of boredom, disorientation and loneliness.
