This ongoing project documents Vara, 10, as she fights cancer. Vara was diagnosed when she was 8. This project began in August 2017, after Vara’s relapse. This is an intimate view of a Michigan family dealing with difficult circumstances. It documents both sides of Vara’s experience, suffering through treatments and enjoying normal moments like playing with friends or cuddling with her mother. By bearing witness to Vara’s life, I seek to make pediatric cancer personal and real to the viewer.
