The alluring calla lily has enchanted cultures for centuries with its beauty and contradictory symbolism: purity, fertility, life, death. It is as beautiful as it is toxic. It has both male and female genitalia. How can something so full of life be so fatal? Not unlike nature, humanity is a fountainhead of contradictions. As opposites attract, they are never static. The world is in constant motion, fueled by contradictions.

Jennifer Packard is a fine art photographer located in Washington, DC. Her work focuses on the nuances of time and space in the natural world as it impacted by the influences of human nature. She is published in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The (Louisiana) Advocate, and many others. In 2020 she published, "Enraptured by Raptors", a photo-story about a Red-shouldered hawk family that grew up during the throes of a national pandemic.
